Finance Manager (Washington DC)
Background: Visions in Action is an international NGO based in Washington DC which works in relief and development in Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, and Liberia. Over 700 volunteers have been placed in the past 18 years for periods of 6-12 months in the areas of education, human rights, communications, public health, HIV/AIDS, micro-enterprise, social work and community development. VIA headquarters are in Washington, DC. Qualifications: Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software and fluency with a double-entry, accrual method of accounting needed. Experience producing financial statements and working with external auditors required. Experience managing finances of U.S. government contracts, especially USAID, desirable. One or more years experience living and working in a developing country and knowledge of African and/or Latin American development issues required, previous international volunteer experience preferred. University degree required, preferably in business or accounting; Spanish or French language capability preferred. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to manage a variety of duties in a small office.
