We have internships available on a continuous basis in our U.S. office in Washington DC, each requiring a commitment of three months or more for 15-40 hours per week. If our goals and mission look interesting to you, please send a resume and a cover letter to our office stating which internship(s) you would like, the exact dates that you could begin and end your internship, and the number of hours of service per week that you could give.
In selecting interns, a competitive process, we look for relevant experience and seriousness of commitment, based on the length of service and weekly time commitment proposed. Graduate students and seniors are favored over sophomores and juniors, other things being equal. Nationals of the developing world are especially encouraged to apply, as are those with experience in the developing world. French and Spanish language capability is a plus.
We are a nonprofit organization committed to social change in Africa through grassroots volunteer efforts. We are unable to offer a stipend; however, we offer the opportunity to take responsibility for a project in your area of interest enabling you to gain valuable skills that can aid you in your future endeavors. We also give you a USD 1,000 credit toward the Visions in Action overseas program fee, should you decide to participate in one of our long term overseas programs.
We would be happy to discuss these positions with you. We feel the experience will be an educational one for you, as well as a beneficial one for our organization and the people that we are trying to assist. Again, thank you for your interest in Visions in Action.
